The all-wheel drive 2003 Chevrolet van burst into showrooms with two swing-open rear cargo doors and a choice between the 60/40 doors or a sliding door for the passenger side. For this year Chevy drops an optional 60/40 doors on the driver's side. Passenger space is expectedly numerous with the regular sized van seating anywhere from 8-12 people and the extended cab can seat from 12-15 people; bucket seats are available as front seats while the rear has benches which may be removed for additional cargo space.

This year's Chevy vans offer three new V8s in three different configurations, the 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 liters that replaces the 5.0, 5.7 and 8.1 liters. The 1500 and the 2500 comes with the standard 4.3-liter V6 engine whereas the 6.0-liter V8 engine is standard on the 3500 coupled with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel anti-lock braking system is standard on all trim levels and on all models as they all get 4-wheel discs this year.
